Moonrise Hotel, St.Louis Boutique Hotel
Technically The Delmar Loop is located outside of St.Louis proper. The Loop is and always was an entertainment, cultural and dining district in University City. It shares a border (western edge) with St.Louis. Whether you are a local or just passing by, The Loop is a six block district you should make a point of checking out.
We spent two nights at the Moonrise Hotel, a space-themed boutique hotel in the heart of the Delmar Loop. It provides walking access to galleries, concert halls, bakeries, coffee shops, dining of all kinds and ethnicity, and of course shopping.
The hotel welcomes you with a moon-walk staircase. No joke. It definitely sets the right tone – you’re about to enter a space-inspired world.
To prove how serious they are about their space fascination, they display this photograph. It’s a photo of Joe Edwards, the owner and Neil Armstrong, the first person to step on the surface of the moon. How awesome is that!
The lobby isn’t very large, but it feels airy and spacious (pun intended).
Did you see that spectacular Chihuly glass art form suspended in the center of the space? Hard to miss, I know. It’s beautiful!
A moon-themed hotel needs…a rotating moon. Like this one. The eight floor is where you can find both a private party room, and an open to the public roof top terrace. The views are lovely and the drinks tastes so much better on the roof top.
We stayed at a Superior King room with a view onto Delmar Street, a tiny but comfortable bathroom and…of course, a king-size bed. The decor was rather simple, neutral. The only pattern large enough to notice was used in carpeting. Besides that, artwork made a settle statement; artwork of the moon, stars, planets.
The Moonrise Hotel is pet-friendly. It’s actually all around a nice place. Nice people at the front desk, at the restaurant, the bar. The theme is nicely executed. The hotel is a great addition to the Delmar Loop district, and to St. Louis.
