Color forecasting is fascinating. Most design professionals, myself included, if they want to stay current on trends, study the origins and the popularity of hues. The more you study it, the more likely it is you can predict the next color…or come very close to. Each year in December, Pantone Color Group introduces a color of the upcoming year based on the cultural, economical and societal components. This year’s winner is PANTONE® 18-2120 Honeysuckle.

In the past three years, we have moved from a warm and hopeful Mimosa in 2009, to comforting and healing Turquoise in 2010, to now an introductory of dynamic and encouraging Honeysuckle for 2011.

“In times of stress, we need something to lift our spirits. Honeysuckle is a captivating, stimulating color that gets the adrenaline going – perfect to ward off the blues,” explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. (quote obtained from www.pantone.com)

Honeysuckle’s positive, delicious and engaging character reminiscent of the flower it was named after, is a step forward in such gloomy economical times. It is a great color for both home and fashion accessories. It’s cheer and brightness has the potential to allure and engage everyone and everything around.
