All things cork

I am working on a project, where cork has become a dominating theme. We are installing cork flooring by Duro-Design. Redoing the bar to implement a clever wine storage solution. I am exploring ways to incorporate recycled wine stoppers into the front counter top and even cork artwork. While doing online research, I run into all these fascinating products. (more…)

Degree of Green

I had a chance to speak with Andy, owner and founder of Safe Building Solutions and learn about his passion, his showroom, and his countless ideas to promote sustainability on a local and national level.

Organic All Around

How do you think about organic clothing? It is a great option for those of us with allergies and higher sensitivity to chemicals. Its popularity is increasing however. Organic fashion industry has grown over 50% in the last year when it comes to the number of vendors who are interested in using natural fibers in their clothing lines. Michael Katarincic is one of those people. Over six months ago, he decided to open a fine organic living store called “Olive” in Mequon, WI. He not only carries cotton, bamboo, and other natural fiber clothing lines, but also organic bedding, shoes and accessories, as well as beauty and  skin products. Most importantly, he made a commitment to build the store using sustainable materials and finishes almost exclusively. (more…)

The best thing about cork is that it is natural! Used in various industries from fashion (shoes, accessories) through beverage (cork stops, place mats, coasters) to residential applications like cork message boards, flooring, wall and ceiling tiles, insulation, furniture and more. As an interior designer, I have always been interested in cork’s various home applications for its numerous benefits, unique look and environmental aspects.
